FabricMarch Challenge Fabric Final Garments
Did you read the post about the FabricMart Challenge Fabric and how the challenge came about? If not, you can get up to speed by reading this. With the exception of one person who’s dress is cut, everyone met the deadline to have their challenge fabric sewn up by the end of July. I’m just the slacker with the round up post over here.
Marjie Finished During Sew Camp
Marjie used McCalls pattern 6958. The cut the fabric using the cross grain so there is the black at both the shoulders and the hem. She blogged all about her finished dress over at Modern Day Ozzie & Harriet
LaQuana was the Next One Done
LaQuana chose to highlight the ombre effect of the fabric when she made Simplicity tunic 8912. You can see a little of the flowers at her sides. I love how fierce she looks in this outfit! Laquana hasn’t blogged her tunic yet, but you can see more on her Instagram page
Carolyn Made Another Katie
Carolyn made another version of the Katie tunic. Carolyn is known for her ability to make border prints sing – and she didn’t let us down with this make.
Cennetta Can Sew!
Cennetta chose to combine the challenge fabric with a beautiful black jacquard that she had left from another project. She too cut the fabric cross grain and you can see the black at both the waist – tying it into the sold black bodice and at the hem. This gorgeous dress was made using Simplicity 8015
Arlene’s Dress is Amazing!
Arlene chose to use Simplicity 0595. With her use of the challenge fabric, she used the proper grain – the flowers run down the center of the fabric fading to nothing at the sides. I love how she fussy cut the waist band to have it be dark.
Arlene is not on any social media – so I’m giving you the collage of her dress. Isn’t it lovely? Also, I adore her hair – just sayin’
Barbara Also Made A Dress
Barbara chose to make McCalls 7681, view B. I love how she used the solid black for the sleeve flounce! What a pretty dress. Barbara doesn’t have a blog, but she’s new to Instagram, so go show her some love. She didn’t send a back view of the dress, but I’ve seen her sew and how her garments fit – this is going to be one nice church dress!
Gaylen Chose York
Gaylen chose to make the York Pinafore from Helen’s Closet. Like most everyone else, she focused on the floral section of the fabric and then cut the dark to create a band at the bottom.
What a Round Up!
I am so thrilled with what everyone did with their piece of the FabricMart Challenge fabric. The fabric was a bit heavier than anyone anticipate and it had some stretch. Then the print ran a different direction than anticipated. And yet, everyone stepped up and made amazing garments. I am so thrilled that everyone was excited about this challenge and willing to work with an interesting fabric.
