Fire & Ice Festival

The second weekend in February every year the town of Lititz, Pennsylvania hosts it’s annual Fire and Ice Festival.  The festival started in 2005 and has grown to the amazing event that it is now.

Friday Night at the Fire & Ice Festival

The Fire & Ice Festival starts on Friday afternoon when you can watch the ice being carved as you wander down main street.  You’ll want to get to Lititz early so you can find parking.  But then, you’ll just wander around town.  Main street is closed and many of the business will have food and drink specials.

The local boy scout troup will have marshmallow roasting fires going in the middle of the street and all of the fixings for s’mores available.

And in the center of town, there will be food trucks and live music!

Ice Palace, Fire & Ice Festival 2017

Once you’ve had your fill of watching the ice being carved, why not head over to Appalachian Brewing Company for dinner?  This is one of our favorite places to go.  The service is always excellent.  They have a good appetizer menu and we enjoy the beer.  After dinner, take the scenic drive back to Carriage Corner where you can enjoy fresh cookies and a cup of coffee in front of fire either in the common room or in your guest room.

Saturday:

After enjoying our filling hot breakfast – head back over the Lititz to wander around and see the finished ice sculptures.  Stand in line to sit in the ice throne – thankfully they have a cushion on it so you won’t get wet!

The Fire is the Chili Cook-Off:

So, we’ve talked about the Ice, but what is the Fire part of the Fire & Ice Festival you ask?  Well, that would be the chili.  Sponsored by the Lititz Lions Club, the Fire & Ice Chili Cook-off features local chefs partnering with charitable organizations to create the most flavorful chili of the day. You do need an admission button to sample the chili at the chili cook off.  Buttons are $10 and should be purchased in advance  or are available at Stauffer’s of Kissel Hill.
