Why Not White Sheets?
I’m sure you’re thinking it looking at the photos of our rooms, why don’t these people put white sheets on their beds already?
Well, let me tell you why. Hotels use white sheets and we aren’t a hotel. We also aren’t a stuffy stereotypical bed and breakfast. Some of those bed and breakfasts and hotels can feel sterile and formal, I think it’s all the white bedding. It doesn’t look inviting.
For years, when we stayed at different bed and breakfasts, we made a list of our favorite features. A few of our favorite features are currently on hold (we can’t wait to bring back the cookie tray), but the warm, fuzzy & inviting has always been important to us. We strive to create a place that is welcoming and inviting, a place where you felt comfortable sitting on the bed or laughing in the living room while you were making new friends. For us, white sheets don’t mix with that vision, they scream hotel! Which meant impersonal.
Welcoming and Inviting
Along with everything else, when you arrive back to your room at the end of a busy day of exploring Lancaster, the bedding should welcome you home, invite you to take a deep breathe and relax, to snuggle into the bed with a good book and a cup of tee or a glass of wine. Therefore, due to the ongoing Covid 19 Pandemic, we have temporarily taken all of the beautiful Amish quilts off of the guest beds but we replaced them with fun, colorful quilts that invite you to stretch out on the bed and watch your favorite show.
Your room should beckon you to get comfortable. In fact, that’s our goal in all the public spaces around Carriage Corner. That you feel welcome and comfortable. We want you to relax and enjoy your stay, whether that means enjoying an evening around the firepit; relaxing with your morning beverage in the swing, or sitting on the bed (with your shoes on) enjoying a movie.
