There are loads of Lancaster events happening over Labor Day Weekend and into early September. So, make plans to visit Lancaster County before the summer is over. Check out our Log Cabin Room and enjoy a long relaxing get away as a treat for making it through summer!
I scoured the googles and found a few Festivals happening in Lancaster County for your enjoyment! In chronological order:
Friday, August 31:
This year will be the 40th Annual Long’s Park Art Festival. This Festival has been called One of America’s Top 50 Art Festivals. The Long’s Park Art Festival runs from 10a to 6p on Friday & Saturday and 10a to 5p on Sunday. This historic tree-lined park features walkways surrounding a tranquil freshwater lake. Long’s Park is located just 15 miles from Carriage Corner.
Live Music – Every Friday and Saturday night from 7p – 9p all year round, The Treasure Place and the Corner Coffee shop host live music. During nice weather the performance happens in the courtyard, so grab your favorite hot beverage and a cookie and pull up a comfortable chair and sit down and enjoy the music and the evening. Smucker’s Village is located just a short walk from Carriage Corner.
Saturday, September 1:
Hospice & Community Care Auction – this is the 34th Annual Auction, with proceeds going to benefit Hospice and Community Care. Solanco Fair Grounds is the home of this benefit auction. Because these auctions are very similar to the mud sales, you can find just about anything you might be looking to buy. The Hospice Action includes Sports Memorabilia, original artwork and Quilts. Check out the schedule and plan your day. After spending a day at the auction, grab a fantastic dinner at the Historic Bullfrog Inn on your way back to Carriage Corner. 15 miles from Carriage Corner you’ll find the Solanco Fair Grounds.
Sounds of Strasburg – Both the Temple Avenue Jazz Quintet (a group of musicians that add a fresh energy to jazz classics) and The Flipside Big Band (a branch of the Lampeter-Strasburg Community Band that performs jazz and swing) will be performing beginning at 6:30 pm in the Strasburg Community Park. You are encouraged to take a blanket or lawn chairs, if you don’t have a blanket we have some you can borrow. You are also welcome to pack a picnic (or pick up some chicken from Amo’s Place) and eat before/during or after the concert. There will be food vendors on site during the show. The park is located 8 miles from the B&B – what a fun way to spend the evening.
Sunday, September 2:
Landis Valley is hosting their September Ice Cream Sunday. Come for the art festival and relax with ice cream and music. Landis Valley and the PA Guild of Craftsmen have partnered together to add a Fine Art & Craft show to their popular September Ice Cream Sunday event. Resulting from a competition among artists, the festival features judged artworks that have been produced outdoors throughout the summer. The artworks will be exhibited in the grove; live music will be happening in the firehouse. Free ice cream and wagon rides round out the event. Landis Valley is located just 12 miles from Carriage Corner and would be a fun Sunday thing to do.
Everybody Loves a Parade
There are several parades happening in Lancaster County over Labor Day weekend. Some on Saturday; some on Sunday; and some on Monday. You can find a schedule here.
Saturday, September 8:
Maker’s Market. Creatively Lancaster hosts a monthly Festival celebrating creative individuals. Makers Market is a way for incredibly talented makers to sell their original creations, unique products and beautiful wares. From 10a until 3p you can find talented makers at the Lancaster Barnstormers Stadium. Creatively Lancaster says this about Makers Market: We are more inclusive than a craft fair and more discerning than a flea market.
