I Survived Carriage Corner Sew Camp

a medley of the breakfasts served during carriage corner sew campWhew!  That’s a mouthful!  I’m happy to say that I survived the first ever Carriage Corner Sew Camp.  I am so very thankful for the time that I had to sew, the conversations, the laughter and the new friendships that are developing as a result of Carriage Corner Sew Camp {#CarriageCornerSewCamp on instagram}.

Sew Camp Day 1

Carolyn and Shenetha came to sew camp on Thursday and stayed until Monday.  We discount your stay on the day before and after so why not take advantage and get some more sewing time in?  Friday morning, everyone was treated to a typical Carriage Corner breakfast while the ‘campers’ who arrived late Friday morning were introduced to Carolyn and Shenetha and offered coffee & coffee cake.

Mr. Carriage Corner played porter and unloaded sewing machines and projects and carried them into the sewing space while we went to FabricMart.  We arrived right around 11:30 or so and we were given the grand tour of FabricMart. I was surprised how big it is!  If you haven’t been there, you should go.  They have patterns and notions too!

Sew Camp Day 2

It was an absolutely blessing that Carolyn was here.   Saturday started with a serger lesson; a lot of  seam ripping; fitting help; pattern alterations; cutting; sewing; talking and laughing.

Saturday evening we all went out for dinner as a group.  After dinner, everyone was excited to get back into their projects and sewed until late in the evening.

Sew Camp Day 3

Sunday morning B was up early, she grabbed a cup of tea and went to sew before breakfast was ready. My goal with hosting Carriage Corner Sew Camp is to help create community; build friendships and connections.  Each of the ladies who attended our first Sew Camp are now on instagram, they are all private so request to follow them.

When you attend Carriage Corner Sew Camp you get the full Bed & Breakfast experience.  You stay in one of our 5 rooms – 2 of the rooms have pull out beds (one double, one twin) both of them have fabulous memory foam mattresses and you wouldn’t know you were sleeping on a pull out.  You sew in our personal space – there is a kitchen, and powder room available to you.  We provide irons & ironing boards, tables, extension cords with serge protectors and a couple of Ott Lights.  I also have 2 machines I can loan, if you are flying and don’t want to cart your machine.  Also, the Hubby will move your sewing paraphernalia to and from your car so you don’t have to.  The space is separate from our sleeping space so you can feel free to stay up as late as you want or get an early start (this was lesson #3 – I’m so used to closing the office door at night that I didn’t even think about it – won’t happen next time).
